Every president of the Republic is held to the highest standards of probity and integrity—not by whim, not by politics, but by constitutional design. He alone, by his lonesome and in person, wields enormous and concentrated executive power. He alone is Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. No Senate. No House. No Supreme Court justice exercises that magnitude of unilateral power.
This is the very reason the 1987 Constitution is explicit and uncompromising: Article XI, Section 1 — Public Office Is a Public Trust.
All public officers and employees, even men and women in uniform, at all times, should be accountable to the people and serve them with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty, dignity, and efficiency.
When senators, congressmen, or justices falter, they falter with institutional buffers around them. But when the President is compromised and falters, the entire nation is exposed and compromised. The entire security architecture becomes vulnerable. The entire economy trembles.
SEN. IMEE’S MARCOS STATEMENT IS NOT A “FAMILY DRAMA.” IT IS EVIDENCE!
Senator Imee Marcos’ revelation—that her own brother, the sitting president, along with his wife and children, suffers from drug addiction—was made in public with a plea for her brother to step down, take care of his health, and go home.
This is NOT idle gossip. This is highly probative testimony from a senator of the Republic and a close family kin at that, directed at the chief executive of the country, and delivered without the shield of parliamentary privilege.
Add to this the allegation that the President is allegedly involved and the “mastermind” in a massive scandal involving the insertion of 100 billion into the national budget alongside enormous corruption in his own government, and this matter immediately becomes a question of NATIONAL SECURITY, GRAVE NATIONAL CONCERN, and ECONOMIC SURVIVAL, NOT some petty Marcos family feud.
If the commander-in-chief is impaired and compromised—politically, psychologically, or chemically—then:
- Decision-making is compromised,
- The national security calculus is distorted,
- Foreign policy becomes unpredictable and erratic
- and the machinery of governance becomes exposed to manipulation and exploitation
This is institutional instability at the topmost level of government.

A Hair Follicle Test Is Not OPTIONAL. It Is the Minimum Standard of Accountability.
Drug allegations at this level cannot be addressed by flippant denials, PR spin, or staged photo-ops. Only a hair follicle test—administered independently and transparently—can restore credibility.
Every PSG personnel, police officer, military recruit, government employee, and private company staff can be compelled to undergo drug testing. Why should the Commander-in-Chief—the most powerful individual in the country—be exempt? If he is clean, he has nothing to fear, nothing to hide!
If he is not, the Filipino people deserve to know—now, not after the country collapses under compromised leadership and a rotten to the core corrupt government!
THE WORLD IS WATCHING — AND THEY ARE NOT AS EASILY FOOLED.
International investors, credit-rating agencies, development lenders, and foreign governments read foreign press, not local spin. They rely on:
- governance risk reports
- corruption exposure assessments
- political instability indicators
- leadership vulnerability analyses
A sitting president hounded by unresolved corruption and drug addiction allegations is a perfect storm for sovereign risk. Expect:
- higher borrowing costs,
- capital flight,
- tighter credit-rating outlooks,
- investor hesitation,
- and massive reputational damage to the Philippines.
No global analyst will be reassured by “I deny the allegations.” They will demand evidence. They will look at the silence or evasiveness as confirmation of political instability and breakdown of governance.

THE PRESIDENCY IS NOT PERSONAL PROPERTY. IT IS A PUBLIC OFFICE.
The Filipino people deserve certainty—not a leader clouded by serious allegations, not a family shielding itself from scrutiny, not a nation left to guess the fitness of its Commander-in-Chief and chief executive of the Republic of the Philippines.
The call stands: TAKE A HAIR FOLLICLE TEST. ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY NOW!! NO BUTS! NO EXCUSES! NO DELAYS!
If every ordinary Filipino can be required to prove they are drug-free to keep their job, then the President of the Republic must be held to the same standard—if not higher.
This is not political noise.
This is constitutional accountability.
This is national security.
This is economic survival.
This is global credibility.
And above all,
This is the right of the Filipino people—to know the truth.
