Manila’s Strongman Marcos Jr. to Lead ASEAN: Will He Push War with China?

This video is an edited version of the original.

Sharing my very interesting, engaging, and somewhat very…very… candid interview with Amanda Yee in her program, The China Report of Breakthrough News, a media outlet based in New York City, United States. We discussed the following topics and a lot more:

  1. What are the highlights from this year’s ASEAN summit in KL, Malaysia?
  2. What is the significance of the China-ASEAN relationship, especially in this unpredictable geopolitical environment driven by Trump’s trade war and protectionist measures? How have China and ASEAN navigated that?
  3. CAFTA (China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement) 3.0, and what are the implications and opportunities for Southeast Asia? For the Global South?
  4. The ASEAN Chairmanship of the Philippines under President Ferdinand Marcos
  5. And what do I think of Pete Hegseth’s statement that he released after the Xi-Trump meeting and his own meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Admiral Dong Jun, and if I see this as the US retreating from full confrontation with China?
  6. A lot of extra, very candid conversations after the five questions.
