Philippine scholar: Military exercises are not conducive to regional peace, we should return to the track of diplomatic negotiations

Anna Malindog-Uy, deputy director of the Philippine “Asian Century” Institute for Strategic Studies, said that the Philippines is regarded as an agent of United States in promoting strategic interests in the Asia-Pacific region, and that “shoulder-to-shoulder” military exercises will not help regional peace, but will only exacerbate tensions and create destabilizing factors, and the Philippine government should abandon militarized belligerent tactics and return to the track of diplomatic negotiations.

Prof. Anna Rosario Malindog-Uy is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD), Peking University, Beijing, China.
